Greetings from the humble scribe Merouda Pendray!

To start off our work week, I thought I'd ask you to
think about your job.

"Uff-da, no!" I may hear some of you moan.
Nonetheless, I'm going to be a cruel taskmistress and
ask you to do it. But I am going to ask you to do it
in a pleasant way!

All of us have a role in our current lives that
involves just plain work. For most of us, that's our
employment, how we earn our daily wages.

How might that work have translated to a method of
employment in period? And is it something that your
persona could have done? Some few people on this list
have already noticed the connection between their jobs
and work in the pre-1601 era, so I'm guessing that a
lot of people have already thought about this.

I'll start.

Modernly, I work through the Wisconsin Family Care
program as administered by the Milwaukee County
Department of Aging, as a case manager. While there
are a variety of ways I could describe the social work
aspects in period terms, the way that best fits my
persona and SCA interests would be as a Chancery
secretary, responsible for, among many other things,
writing out the documents that allow petitioners to
get the benefits that the local noble/king/whomever
has granted them.

I look forward to reading your answers!

Your servant, Merouda
