[Northshield] Dame Merouda Raises Her Head and Asks You another Persona Question!

Greetings.

I'll TRY to be brief, as is not usually my wont,
because I really need to go to bed, but I wanted to
issue another little persona challenge to you.

Most of us identify our personas as having come from a
time in which the combination of our nobility/gentry
status and our connection to the church would have put
us in a position to be generous donors to the church,
not just in tithing, but in providing endowments or
other large monetary gifts that would become chapels
or colleges or clerical clothing, etcetera.

However, we live in an era in which the church does
not play as important a role and in which small
donations ($250 or less) are usually the most that we
can afford. Nonetheless, when we give, we are
performing that same noble duty as would have been
performed by the personas we portray.

EXCLUDING donations to the SCA and church tithing, in
what way do you perform your duty to improve the
community via the most significant monetary gifts (or,
in some cases, donations in kind) you can afford?

Don't tell us how much, that's not our business, but
do tell us about a gift that you made, either money or
goods, that was significant to you and which was for
the good of the community, and take a moment to think
about how the action compares to your persona.

As usual, I'll start:

My big moments of non SCA patronage came when I
donated money to the St. John's Bible fund and to
NaNoWriMo.

Let me see... scribe... donating to the creating of an
illuminated manuscript and to a non-profit that
inspires people to write and helps build libraries for
children in thrid world countries... there's a theme
here. Definately.

What about you? I look forward to hearing about what
you have done!

Please tell me what you've done!
